I agree with Louis L'Amour that storytelling is an artful and fine endeavor.  I think of it as sitting around a campfire on a hunting trip with friends.  After some comfortable silence I say,  "Hey, did I ever tell you about ...."  Then I try to do my best imitation of Pat McManus.
